Can Nationwide Van Lines Move Me?

Save time and get the answers you need right away with a free quote from our Nationwide Van Lines.

One of the factors that we love about our experience with Nationwide Van Lines is the company’s effective communication and helpfulness. When we called to get a quote from Nationwide, our representative didn’t only inform us of their processes—they also explained local and federal moving regulations and how they played into price calculation and the quote process. We were on hold for less than 1 minute when we contacted Nationwide Van Lines, and customer service professionals were clear and communicative regarding which services counted as standard inclusions and add-ons.

Loading is included as part of the base process with Nationwide’s team. In addition, the company provides both binding and non-binding quotes:

    • You’ll receive a non-binding quote if you request an estimate without providing a full inventory list. This can be a good option if you need to clear out some areas of your home before moving day arrives.
    • When you provide Nationwide Van Lines with your moving inventory, they’ll offer you a binding estimate. After you receive a binding estimate, Nationwide Van Lines will not increase the price of your move so long as you don’t add additional items to the list of things that you want to include on your move.

Nationwide Van Lines writes that all of their drivers must maintain “a valid driver’s license, medical card and must be approved by [the company’s] insurance carrier.” It also claims that every mover must undergo a full training course before they can work on any move but does not specify what types of items are included in training or the length of any background checks the company performs before hiring. In the future, we’d love Nationwide to offer more information on its hiring process—after all, you need to know what types of movers you’re allowing into your home.

We’ve reviewed dozens of reviews from Nationwide and found that, on average, more users mentioned value when praising the company when compared to other moving service providers in the Florida service area. We’ll go into a bit more information on what you can expect to impact the price of your move in the next section.

Nationwide Van Lines doesn’t offer quotes online, so we gave them a call to learn more about pricing and what you can expect to pay for your local or cross-country move. The representative we spoke with was educated and helpful. She informed us that for long-distance moving services, the company would need to pay a visit to our property to determine the exact number of items that we’d be moving, which affects the number of movers that will be needed on-site and the number of trucks that the company would need to schedule. Movers can request a quote online or speak with a representative over the phone. All estimates and quotes are free of charge.

While this may be less convenient for movers looking for the lowest possible pricing on their move, we appreciate Nationwide Van Lines’ commitment to regulations and ensuring the safety of all of their team members.

While our Nationwide Van Lines representative could not provide us with specific pricing information, she was able to tell us that the following factors would contribute to the price of our move.

    • The distance you’re moving: From gas charges to toll fees, moving cross country can be expensive. If you’re planning a long-distance move, you can expect to pay more for your move when compared to someone looking for local moving services. The further away from your home you’re moving, the more you’ll pay for moving services.
    • The total weight of your shipment: The more things you’re moving, the more movers your moving company will need to assign to complete your move. This means that the number of items that you’re moving will play a major factor when your moving company calculates how much you’ll pay for your shipment. Decluttering and downsizing ahead of your upcoming move is a fantastic way to save money when moving.
    • Your moving date: Like most other specialized industries, the moving industry has a busy season and a slow season. When more people are requesting moving services, moving companies increase their rates. If you have any flexibility with your move date, consider moving during the months of September through April, as these tend to be the least busy months for moving companies.

If you have less flexibility with your moving date, we recommend moving on a weekday instead of a weekend if possible. Moving companies tend to have more requests for services on the weekends, which means that you can often save money by moving on a different day.

    • Any additional services that you request from your moving company: As we’ll discuss in the next section, Nationwide Van Lines is a far-reaching, comprehensive full-service moving company. In addition to basic pick up and drop off services, their team can also provide you with packing services, storage services and even packing supplies if you begin packing and realize that you don’t have time to run out for more supplies. Every additional service that you schedule will add to the total cost of your move.

Nationwide Van Lines uses a flat pricing model for local moves. This means that, after surveying all of the items that you’re moving, Nationwide Van Lines will assign a binding estimate that doesn’t take into account the overall weight of your move. This can be beneficial for most types of movers, as the total weight of your shipment can vary after being loaded onto the moving truck. Long-distance moves also take distance into account when calculating price paid.

Nationwide Van Lines reserves the right to adjust non-binding estimates if your itemized list changes on moving day or for additional fees that the company incurs (for example, moving up and down multiple flights of stairs in a building with no elevators or parking fees).

Our Nationwide Van Lines representative informed us that, as a general rule, the company requests that movers who schedule a move provide the company with at least 5 days’ worth of notice in the event that they need to cancel service. If you cancel within 5 days, the company will refund any down payment or deposit that you place.

Nationwide Van Lines, Inc. is a full-service moving company and licensed carrier that provides a very wide range of services to make your moving experience truly stress-free. Loading and unloading are included as basic services on local moves and long-distance moves—Nationwide Van Lines’ website even claims that the company will provide you with “highly trained Certified Packers and Loaders” who receive specialized training from the American Moving and Storage Association before they visit your home. The company has also been named a Florida ProMover.

Image text: You can save money by packing your things on your own for your move.

No matter if you’re moving from Miami to Orlando or from Jacksonville to Los Angeles, the best movers for your family are ones that are fully certified and licensed. One feature that we loved about our experience getting a moving quote and learning more about Nationwide Van Lines is how easy the company made it to find regulation information.

Nationwide Van Lines’ USDOT number (976593) is clearly displayed on its website, and we were able to verify it in a matter of seconds using the FMCSA’s Company Snapshot tool. We were also able to find and verify Nationwide Van Lines’ MC Number (411705), which is a major benefit. Representatives in the past have not been able to provide us with this crucial information in our reviews of competing companies, so we were thrilled to see that Nationwide Van Lines offers this info upfront.

In addition to basic long-distance moving services, the company also offers the following add-on services.

    Packing Services

If you’re planning a last-minute move, you might not have time to handle all of the packing services that you need. Nationwide Van Lines offers one of the most comprehensive lists of packing services and options that we’ve seen, with 4 levels of packing service plans. Let’s take a look at what’s included in each of Nationwide Van Lines’ packing plans.

When considering if you’d like to invest in a packing plan, know that higher-level packing services will increase the total amount of money that your moving process costs. However, if you’re looking for the highest possible level of assistance from your professional movers, Nationwide Van Lines can help you with almost every task associated with local, long-distance or international moving.

    Specialized Packing Services

There are a few items that Nationwide Van Lines’ packing services don’t include as standard items. For example, none of the company’s packing plans include coverage for crating, which is often required to safely move things like antiques and pianos.

Nationwide Van Lines offers packing and moving services for “extraordinary items” at an additional charge. The company defines an extraordinary item as any of the following:

    • Pianos
    • Pool tables
    • Plasma TVs
    • Any other heavy item that requires delicate disassembly or packing

Extraordinary packing services include crating, straps, and any other specialized packing method needed to ensure that your item arrives safely. If you aren’t sure whether or not the items you are packing will require specialized packing services, Nationwide Van Lines offers contact information for its certified moving consultants online

    Auto Relocation

If you’re moving very far up or down the East Coast or all the way across the USA to the West Coast from Florida, you might not want to put thousands of miles on your car. Nationwide Van Lines offer automobile transportation that will help extend the life of your vehicle while also providing you with a reliable delivery date.

    Storage Services

If your move-in and move-out dates don’t exactly line up, you might want to take advantage of storage services offered by your moving company. Nationwide Van Lines’ moves come with a complimentary storage unit for 1 month. If you need to extend your services, Nationwide Van Lines’ excellent service can help arrange for more time in your storage unit.

According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Nationwide Van Lines has been in business for 19 years. The company has been BBB accredited since 2017, and the BBB has awarded the company an overall grade of “A+.” This accreditation status and grade may indicate that Nationwide Van Lines is more transparent in its pricing and policies and is more proactive in responding to customer complaints.

We found this to be especially true when viewing the company’s profile, as its address in Plantation, FL, and its phone number were clearly listed and visible. While this transparency isn’t a guarantee of a great price or excellent services, a lack of concrete information on the location of the business has been found to be a tell-tale sign of a moving scam.

Customer sentiment on http://www.nationwidevanlines.com is largely positive—but what are customers on third-party websites saying about Nationwide Van Lines? We’ve reviewed customer testimonials in some of the areas that movers care the most about.

Customer sentiment regarding Nationwide’s pricing is exceptionally positive, with multiple reviewers across third-party sites mentioning that the company provided them with a stress-free and affordable move. Some reviewers even claimed that Nationwide was even able to complete their job below the price quote they were originally provided with when they received their estimate, which is a compliment that we’ve never seen with any other moving company that we’ve reviewed.

…For both moves, the initial moving quote was both accurate and extremely fair.  Careful and detailed consideration was given to ensure that an accurate inventory was produced by the logistics team. — Google Reviews user “Ryan,” May 2017, Google Reviews, 5.0 stars.

They did everything they said they would do and ahead of schedule and under estimate. They were fantastic, everything was wrapped so well and just a great experience from start to finish. — Jessica C., 12/17/2020, Trustpilot, 5.0 stars.

Another area where reviewers compliment Nationwide Van Lines is in the company’s efficiency. Multiple reviews praise moving professionals for their next-day service, fast arrivals, punctuality, and courteousness. Even when there were items that the crew was not completely prepared to move, reviewers praised movers’ efficiency and responsiveness to change.

These folks were amazing. I had a long-distance move and from the time that they arrived for pick-up to the destination of delivery, these guys took care of everything. They were respectful, curious, efficient and reliable. — Cynthia F., 11/21/2020, Trustpilot, 5.0 stars.

Best crew ever! Fernando and his crew gave it their all moving a heavy statue without proper equipment. We are very thankful to them all! — Kris C., 12/21/2020, Trustpilot, 5.0 stars.

Nationwide was easy to work with. Pricing was good. Showed up when scheduled for the pickup and delivered the move earlier than had been scheduled. — Mitch C., 12/24/2020, Trustpilot, 5.0 stars.

    Handling Possessions With Care

In the few negative online reviews of Nationwide Van Lines, the most common complaint was that items arrived at the homeowner’s new property broken. However, more often than not, reviews praised Nationwide’s team for their care in handling their things. This difference may have to do with variations in training and experience between Nationwide’s many locations.

We were amazed that nothing was broken or damaged and at how hard they worked to unwrap everything and cleanup when they were done. We also appreciate the help of Alana and her help with the online shipping order and payment processes which were very efficient and well managed. — Tim W., 04/19/2019, MyMovingReviews.com, 5.0 stars.

…I haven’t even started with the condition of the items that were delivered. An antique table was smashed. Pots broken. Everything packed by the company that Nationwide “coordinated” was damaged in some way. Funny, everything packed by me, including delicate antiques, arrived unscathed. — Better Business Bureau user “Podsfan,” 08/28/2020, BBB.org, 1.0 star.

The movers I had were great. They were quick and treated my possessions with respect. No damages. Definitely knew what they were doing. The estimate was on point. Literally to the penny. Excellent service all around and would totally recommend, especially for long distance moves. — Max C., 03/17/2020, MyMovingReviews.com, 5.0 stars.

Reviews of Nationwide Moving Services praise the company’s reliability and consistency. Across reviews, users regularly complimented the company on their friendly and helpful representatives, informative assistance, and even friendliness and speed when packing up their moving trucks.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Nationwide Van Lines for effectively [handling] my recent move. Specifically, I thank Mr. Rick Vera for expediting and managing everything in a kind and professional manner…With their assistance, the move was perfect, without any issues, and I have absolutely no complaints. — Ronald C., 12/16/2020, Trustpilot, 5.0 stars.
